Fare Calculator is a trip-fare and trip-tracking app built for individual drivers. This page explains, in plain terms, what information the app touches, why, and what control you have over it.
1. Overview
Fare Calculator helps a driver estimate, track, and record taxi trips: fares, distances, durations, and income. It is built around a single principle — your trip history is yours, it lives on your device, and we don't run a server that collects it.
The only data that leaves your device goes to the specific Google services the app relies on to function (Maps, Places, Directions, AdMob, and Play Billing), each covered below.
2. Location data
The app uses your device's GPS location for two things only:
- Letting you set your current position as a trip's start point, instead of typing an address.
- Tracking distance covered while you have an active trip open in the app.
Location is only accessed while the app is open and in use on your screen — it does not track your location in the background, and it does not run after you close the app or switch to another one.
Your location is used entirely on-device to calculate distance and to look up addresses (see Maps & places search). We do not log, store, or transmit your raw location history to any server we operate.
3. Trip & pricing data
The app stores the following on your device only, in a local database:
- Start, destination, and stop addresses for each trip
- Distance covered, time taken, and any waiting time you record
- Estimated and actual fares, including your pricing settings (base price, cost per km, cost per minute, peak multiplier, minimum fare, waiting rate, fuel price and consumption)
- Your currency, theme, and other app preferences
- Saved favorite routes you choose to name and store
None of this is uploaded to a server we control. If you use the app's own export feature to generate a CSV of your trips, that file is created on your device and only shared to wherever you explicitly choose to send it (e.g. your own email or cloud storage) — we never see it.
4. Advertising
The app shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers, approximate location, and usage data to serve and measure ads, and to limit how often you see the same ad. This data collection is governed by Google's own privacy policy, not ours:
You can remove ads entirely at any time — see Purchases below.
5. Purchases (Remove Ads)
"Remove Ads" is a one-time purchase, processed entirely by Google Play Billing, that turns off ads for 365 days. We never see or store your payment details — card numbers, billing address, and payment method are handled directly between you and Google Play. The app only receives confirmation that a purchase was completed, which it uses to unlock the ad-free period locally on your device.
Refunds, payment methods, and receipts for this purchase are managed through your Google Play account, not through this app.
6. Maps & places search
Route calculation, address search, and map display are powered by Google Maps Platform (Maps SDK, Places API, Directions API). When you search for an address or calculate a route, the relevant text or coordinates are sent to Google to perform that lookup. This is subject to Google's privacy policy (linked above) and their Maps Platform Terms of Service.
7. Storage & retention
| What | Where it lives |
|---|---|
| Trip history, pricing settings, favorites, theme/currency preferences | Local database on your device only |
| Ad-free purchase status | Local device storage + Google Play (for purchase validation) |
| Location, search queries, route requests | Processed on-device and via Google's services in real time — not retained by us |
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored data. We have no copy of it and cannot recover it for you.
9. Permissions
| Permission | Why it's requested |
|---|---|
| Location (fine) | Set current location as a trip start point; track distance during an active trip |
| Internet | Maps, route calculation, ads, and purchase verification |
You can review or revoke any permission at any time from your device's Settings → Apps → Fare Calculator → Permissions. Revoking location access simply disables the GPS-based features; the rest of the app continues to work.
10. Children's privacy
This app is intended for adult drivers managing their own trips and pricing. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your region).
11. Your choices
- Export your data — use the CSV export in Analytics at any time.
- Delete your data — uninstall the app; local storage is removed with it.
- Remove ads — a one-time purchase via Settings, processed by Google Play.
- Control location access — grant or revoke it from your device's system settings.
12. Security
Your trip and pricing data is stored in your device's app-private storage, which is sandboxed by Android from other apps. Network requests to Google's services (Maps, Directions, Places, AdMob, Play Billing) are made over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we don't operate a central server holding your data, which removes an entire category of risk (a server-side breach) that many apps carry.
13. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change accordingly. Material changes — anything that changes what data we collect or how it's used — will also be reflected in the in-app Privacy Policy screen's version.
